Privately owned, within 137 hectares of nature reserve on the Knysna River the Phantom Forest offers a unique bio-diversity of Afromontane forest, Cape coastal fynbos and estuarine wetland.

There are over 150 bird species, bush pig, bushbuck, grysbok, the rare blue duiker (one of Africa’s smallest antelope), and a variety of smaller game.

Phantom Forest Eco Reserve offers 14 elevated tree suites constructed according to green building principles and adapted to the ‘design’ of the forest. Not a single mature tree was removed to make way for these suites. The luxuriously appointed interiors are decorated with African inspired flair, with some suites representing a twist on Xhosa culture, while others depict North African chic.

The Body Boma wellness centre provides a range of Nature treatments:
The Forest Boma serves cuisine for the most discerning palate
The Chutzpah is a Moroccan-styled fantasy with the ambiance of an of exotic North African baroque
The Business Boma has seating for 14 and offers the latest technology
Outdoor activities include canoeing up the river (with perhaps a delicious picnic) or exploring the forest and fynbos trails spotting some of the 160 bird species, flora and fauna
Golf, sailing, and whale watching are all within easy reach
